For those of you who didn’t see the game in person or watch it streaming live, there’s good news for Bridgeport High School baseball fans. The Indians state championship game will air this Saturday on cable television.

Root Sports, which is based out of Pittsburgh, will be showing all three state title games. The Indians’ game with PikeView will be the first of three games shown and will begin at noon.

The Indians were 9-4 winners over the Panthers in the contest. It was the third straight Class AA championship for the Tribe.

“I think it’s nice for our team, our program, our community and everyone that follows us,” said BHS Coach Robert Shields. “For the first time that I can remember, there was coordination done by those involved at the state level to work with Root (Sports) to make this possible.

“For those that want to record it on their DVR or some other recording device, it’s certainly a keepsake and something hopefully these kids can show their own children one day,” he continued. “Certainly, it’s going to be neat to sit down and watch a televised game you were in.”

Locally, Root Sports is one of the channels offered by Time Warner Cable. It can be found on Channel 48.

Bridgeport finished the year 30-6. It was also the third straight season the Indians completed a 30-win campaign.
