For those of you who prefer afternoon sunlight over the Friday night lights, you're in for a treat. This week's Class AA quarterfinal contest between Bridgeport and Robert C. Byrd will take place at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Wayne Jamison Field.

 

The official announcement comes from the Parkersburg offices of the WVSSAC where coaches of the eight teams still alive in all three classes are meeting. The Eagles, as the visiting team, had the choice of when to play and chose the Saturday time slot, which is the same time slot they utilized in the opening round.

 

The top-ranked Indians advanced thanks to a 41-7 win against No. 16 Independence. RCB, ranked No. 9, took out homestanding No.Chapmanville yesterday by a 42-14 score.

 

Saturday's game will be the second this season between Bridgeport and Robert C. Byrd. The Indians won the regular season affair in Clarksburg by a 48-21 score.

 

The winner will face the winner of the Keyser-Fairmont game the following week. Those two teams will play Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at East-West Stadium.

 

South Harrison will be in action Friday night. The 10-1 Hawks face 9-2 St. Marys in a Class A showdown in Lost Creek.
