One More Time: Tribe to Face Fairmont Senior Tonight on Road Looking to Remain Undefeated

By Jeff Toquinto on February 26, 2015 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Bridgeport’s quest for an unbeaten regular season continues this evening and, once again, there is a very big and very familiar roadblock in the way. For the second time in three days, the Class AA No. 2 Indians will square off against Class AA No. 3 Fairmont Senior.

There is one difference: Tonight’s game will be played in Marion County.

For the 19-0 Indians, it’s a chance to give the team a 20-win season. For the Polar Bears, tonight’s game is an immediate chance at redemption.

On Tuesday, Bridgeport not only rallied from five points down at the start of the fourth quarter, but managed to hold the talented Fairmont Senior team to just three points in the last eight minutes of the game. Bridgeport went on to win by a 57-46 score.

During Tuesday’s game, Bridgeport looked to establish Nick Greely inside and the plan worked. Greely not only got off a team-high 17 shots in the game, but finished with a game-high 19 points.

The 6’7 Greely won’t be alone. The Indians will counter with a starting lineup that includes Class AA all stater John Wilfong and the Tribe’s deadly three-guard rotation of Chase Robey, Donald Kummer and Dante Bonamico.

Off the bench, the Indians will likely use Hunter Haddix and Logan Smith. The Tribe has utilized a short rotation for the entire season and it’s worked.

Fairmont will counter with a talented lineup of its own. Senior guard Tavon Horton is one of the area’s and the state’s top players and he has plenty of help. Junior Darhius Nunn, junior Michael Holloway, sophomore sharp shooter Jacob Casalinuova and senior big man Isaac Childers have helped the Polar Bears off to one of their best starts in recent memory.

The rematch is set for 7:30 p.m. Coverage of the game can be found on 103.3 WAJR FM. The voice of the Indians, Travis Jones, will call the game.
