Postseason Play with Indians, Robert C. Byrd Boys and BHS, Keyser Girls Postponed Once Again

From the “totally expected” category, postseason games involving Harrison County basketball teams have been postponed once again due to the weather.

According to Bridgeport High School Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Matt DeMotto, the highly anticipated Class AA Region II, Section 2 championship game between Bridgeport and Robert C. Byrd originally scheduled for Friday has now been moved to Saturday at 7 p.m. The game was originally set for the evening, but moved yesterday to Friday to allow both teams a day to practice. However, the cancelation of school today has forced that game to be moved again.

The winner of the game between the 20-2 Indians and the 15-5 Eagles will be the host for next week’s regional championship game. The loser will go to face the winner of the Frankfort-Keyser contest.

On the girls’ side, the regional contest between Bridgeport and Keyser was tentatively set for Friday at 7 p.m. at KHS. However, DeMotto received information at 11 a.m. today saying that the game now has been moved to Saturday at 1 p.m. The Lincoln and Frankfort regional final is also now set for 1 p.m. Saturday in Shinnson.

""This is due in part to the availability of game officials and the obvious state of emergency," DeMotto said.
