For those planning on going to Bridgeport’s game at Robert C. Byrd Saturday in Clarksburg, there’s been a chance of plans. The game will no longer be played on Saturday, according to Bridgeport High School Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Matt DeMotto.

Instead, the game has been moved to Friday night. DeMotto said the game times will remain the same.

The varsity will still begin at 7:30 p.m. It will be preceded by the junior varsity contest at the same time as all other junior varsity affairs.

The reason for the move doesn’t rest with just one school. Both coaching staffs, said DeMotto, are in favor of the move.

“Members of the coaching staff may have an interest to be in Charleston this weekend to be involved in an event supporting their fellow teachers,” said DeMotto.

Educators may be gathering this weekend in Charleston for issues involving the West Virginia Legislature. Educators, along with other public employees, have shown their concern regarding benefits and other issues that impact them that have been discussed as being implemented by the current session of the Legislature.

“The good news on the scheduling front is that both schools had Friday open,” said DeMotto. “Since it didn’t have an impact on either school it was an easy move,” said DeMotto.

Bridgeport is currently 12-5 and plays at East Fairmont this evening. RCB is 9-6 and hosts Preston tonight.

The Indians and Eagles met Dec. 22 in Bridgeport. The Tribe won that contest 58-57.
