For those wanting to get as much information possible for Friday’s Class AA state title game between Bridgeport and Bluefield at Wheeling Island Stadium, this may be just what the doctor ordered.

On Friday, from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m., 103.3 WAJR FM will be airing a “Prelude to a Championship” that will cover the game from the Bridgeport perspective.  After that, MetroNews will begin its own pregame coverage – also on 103.3 FM – for the contest.

“We’ll have John Cole interviews, a season recap with highlights, Joe Brocato (of MetroNews) will preview the championship weekend, we’ll have Jeff Toquinto of Connect-Bridgeport and Chris George will be with me to provide his commentary,” said Travis Jones, the “Voice of the Indians” who will be hosting the show.

Typical pre-game segments on WAJR are 30 minutes. The double time frame will allow for a lengthy interview with BHS Coach John Cole who will talk about the season and the contest.

“It’s definitely going to be more in-depth,” said Jones. “We’ll also break down Bridgeport and Bluefield on the scheme front by talking with offensive coordinator Tyler Phares and defensive coordinator Adam King. Along with that, we’ll break down the entire Super Six to have you ready for the weekend and likely some last-minute injury updates and things of that nature.”

Jones said this isn’t the first show produced prior to a BHS title game. He said they were done prior to the three-straight titles won from 2013 to 2015.

Once 7 p.m. rolls around, MetroNews radio coverage will begin with Dave Wilson and Fred Persinger. The game will also be shown live via the internet on MetroNews.com. Jones will be joined by Brad Howe and Brocato, who will handle sideline duties.

“We’ll just have few minutes after going on the air to highlight the teams and a player from each team,” said Jones. “We’re expecting the actual kickoff to be right around 7:08 p.m.”

After the game, there will also be extended coverage on 103.3 WAJR FM. Jones said there will be live reaction from the BHS locker room with players and coaches.

The coverage can also be accessed on the Bridgeport Sports Radio App. Jones said the game will be shown on local television on AT&T Sports Net on Monday, Dec. 9 at 8:30 p.m. and on Christmas Eve beginning at 8 p.m.
