Free Davisson Brothers Concert in City Park to Take Place Thursday Evening

The activity list for this coming Thursday – July 3 – here in Bridgeport just keeps growing. According to Mary Kay Greer of the Bridgeport Arts Council, the fireworks show on Bridgeport Hill above K-Mart off of Platinum Drive isn’t the only free entertainment venue.

“We’re holding a free concert at Bridgeport City Park on Thursday and we think it’s one everyone will enjoy,” said Greer.

If past history is any indication, not only will everyone enjoy themselves, but there will be a big crowd on hand as well. Starting at 7 p.m., the Davisson Brothers Band will be on hand at the city venue just off of Johnson Avenue and behind Bridgeport High School.

Individuals will need to bring their lawn chairs and blankets to the event. The set up will be near the ball fields, but the location for setup could change if the weather looks to be foul, Greer said.

For those wanting to get a bite to eat, Greer said there will be food available for purchase. Once again, Brickside Grille will have items for purchase.

“They’ve been great to work with,” said Greer of Brickside, which has been involved with the two previous concerts sponsored by the Arts Council at City Park. “Patrick O’Mara has been very helpful and he has things for sale like cotton candy, which the children that attend these events love.”

The show will end 9:30 p.m. Greer is hopeful that those attending the show at City Park will be able to see the fireworks display taking place at dusk in Bridgeport. Last year, the first year for the fireworks show reminiscent of the old show at Hill’s Department Store, drew thousands of spectators.
