The second annual Bridgeport Fireworks Show on Bridgeport Hill will be getting under way this evening around dusk as part of a couple of events in Bridgeport. It’s all part of several events in the area this evening and throughout the next few days as part of the July 4 holiday.

 

Last year’s fireworks show turned out to be a huge success. In fact, if the weather cooperates as forecasted individuals may want to find their favorite spot early. The 2013 show saw individuals gathered at places such as the Home Depot Plaza, NewPointe, Eastpointe and even as far away as the Meadowbrook Mall and the Bridgeport Country Club. Some individuals were even tailgating before the show that was dome reminiscent of the former Hill’s Department Store fireworks display that was held for years in the area.

 

This year, WDTV is teaming up with WVFX, Connect-Bridgeport and the North Central West Virginia Airport to present the second annual fireworks event. The fireworks will again be set off from near the City of Bridgeport’s water tank directly behind K-Mart giving folks from all around the area a chance to view the display. Expect the show to start around dusk.

 

Local law enforcement will again be helping with traffic control. Last year, organizers heaped praise on those responsible for getting cars out in a safe and timely fashion.

 

Whether the fireworks can be seen from Bridgeport City Park is not 100 percent certain. What is certain is that the Davisson Brothers will be playing a free concert there tonight starting at 7 p.m. The event is being sponsored by the Bridgeport Arts Council. Individuals are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and enjoy the music and, likely, fireworks after the event.

 

Food can be purchased as well. Organizers have said that Brickside Bar and Grille will serve as the vendor at the event.
