Big Daddy's Discount Offering New, Used, Damaged Furniture at Closeout Prices

The signs have been set for Big Daddy’s Discount, which about three weeks ago opened its doors quietly at the former Ace Hardware Building.
The reason for the soft opening was to work out the kinks of the new business and move out some preliminary inventory, said owner Clayce Spurlock. Though that process is still happening and additional personnel being hired, Spurlock invites customers to come take a look. He believes they will like what they see.
“We’ve been selling quite a bit of stuff,” he said. “It’s more like a clearance center. We have damaged furniture, used furniture and some new furniture – a little combination of everything, all with great prices. We’re buying closeouts from the manufacturers, so we can offer some really good buys.”
All styles of living room, dining room and bedroom furniture, including mattresses, are available and displayed on the first two floors of the building, situate on West Main Street, just below Bridgeport Municipal Building.
“We’re completely out of some things and heavy in other areas right now, but inventory will be more balanced as time goes by,” Spurlock said.
Also co-owner of Star Furniture, Spurlock said he plans to attend market next week in High Point and thereafter will have an overall better selection.
He said he purchased the Main Street building because he thought it was an ideal location for a discount furniture store.
‘It’s right here on the main drag and there’s a lot of traffic,” he said, “so we can cut overhead by not having to advertise and so we can keep prices lower.”
Big Daddy’s Discount is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. There is no in-store financing, but purchases can be made with cash, check or credit card. There is no delivery service, so customers need to bring a truck or otherwise arrange transport of furniture purchased.
“We’re excited about serving this area and bringing great values to North Central West Virginia,” Spurlock said.
