About Don Hamilton
During my career as a college professor, I developed a simple approach to teaching aspiring instructors how to lead general music courses in elementary schools. I had the opportunity to test the efficiency of my approach while teaching non-musicians in a course call Music Education for Classroom Teachers. The course was for elementary teachers who were required by law to teach music. By the end of the course, my easy-to-use system---the same one that is presented in Easy Steps to Reading Music ---had taught them to read music.
Throughout both my professional career and personal life, music has brought me immeasurable joy. I hope that Easy Steps to Reading Music will allow those whose love for music outweighs their musical knowledge to learn, join in, and experience that joy too.
Don Hamilton currently resides in Bridgeport, WV.
About Easy Steps to Reading Music by Don Hamilton
So you want to make music. You find yourself thinking about how you'd love to join a choir or pick up an instrument, but you don't know how to read a score.
Learning on your own seems overwhelming, joining a musical group and hoping for the best is out of the question, and lessons are expensive. You feel stuck.
But you don't have to feel stuck anymore because this book is designed to help people just like you learn to read music. This book is for members of community choirs, parents who want to help their children with their piano practice, and anyone who has ever wanted to join a barbershop quartet.
It's for people who have always regretted dropping out of marching band in high school and want to pick up a trombone again thirty years later. It doesn't matter how old you are or what (if any) musical experience you've had. All that matters is that you want to learn and are willing to put in a bit of time to accomplish that goal.
