Bridgeport Public Library : Summer Reading for Adults Begins!
Bridgeport, WV – Summer Reading for adults begins on June 2, 2014 at the Bridgeport Public Library! Stop the library to register and get a Summer Reading packet which includes a list of recommended reads, trivia, a short story, and more! The national themes for 2014 Summer Reading highlights some aspect of science. For adults, that theme is “Literary Elements,” modeled after the Periodic Table. Inspired by the national goal of highlighting science in literature, the Bridgeport Public Library developed its 2014 Adult Summer Reading book lists and programming with a more specific focus on forensic and crime fiction.
The Bridgeport Public Library’s list of recommended reads for this summer was adapted from Amazon.com’s list of “100 Mysteries and Thrillers to Read in a Lifetime.” Additions to this list include publications by West Virginia authors, Geoffrey Fuller and Daleen Berry, in anticipation of their latest installment in the Skylar Neese saga, Pretty Little Killers, available July 8, 2014. Everyone is sure to find something interesting to read this summer!
Be sure to investigate the mock crime scene on display at the library this summer! A fictional library patron is the murder victim and suspects are crime fiction authors. Join in the search to uncover the truth!
Visit the library often this summer and enter to win weekly prize drawings! Totes, books, puzzles, and other goodies will be up for grabs for adults participating in the Summer Reading program at the Bridgeport Public Library!
About Summer Reading
Summer reading programs began in the 1890s as a way to encourage school children, particularly those in urban areas and not needed for farm work, to read during their summer vacation, use the library and develop the habit of reading. Libraries also now offer summer reading programs for adults, as well as children.
