CHANTICLEER CHILDREN’S CHORUS Homecoming Concert in Celebration of Our 24th Year
Chanticleer Children’s Chorus Hosts Alumni Concert
“Sing On! A Homecoming in Celebration of Chanticleer's 24th Year"
Bridgeport, W.Va. - Stepping into a new chapter, Chanticleer Children’s Chorus of WV (CCC) joins in song to celebrate the past 24 years under the direction of Sarah Carr with the gathering of its past members. Combining singers from the Harrison County Children’s Chorus and CCC, Carr will lead alumni one last time on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, Clarksburg W.Va. at 7:00 pm.
“Sing On: A Homecoming in Celebration of Chanticleer’s 24th Year” will recall the rich musical history of this ensemble as it draws upon achievements and memories of the past. In addition, this event will celebrate and say farewell to Sarah Carr as she retires as Artistic Director after 24 years. Under her direction, Chanticleer has created a legacy of musical education, rich with cultural experiences for hundreds of children across the region.
“Chanticleer Children’s Chorus gave me the opportunity to sing in countries around the world with those who would become lifelong friends,” former member Emma Huffman said. “When I think back on my experiences with Chanticleer, I am inspired to keep on singing.”
To honor the legacy of Carr in her community and in her role as the artistic director for CCC, a song has been commissioned by Larry Parsons and funded by CCC Alumni, friends and the Folio family and will be performed at the concert. Canadian composer, Dr. Larry Nickel, composed the piece titled The Wonder of It All.
All alumni, friends, family and supporters are invited to attend Saturday’s concert and can purchase tickets at the door for $8.
CCC will continue under the direction of Adam Loudin. Loudin has served as the Associate Director for Chanticleer in the Weston, W.Va. location and has demonstrated boundless passion and enthusiasm in his tenure. Loudin brings with him great musical ability and a commitment to choral education.
Other concert appearances by Chanticleer this Spring include Sunday, June 7 at Bridgeport United Methodist Church as a
‘bon voyage’ concert featuring Chanticleer’s tour choristers, before their Eastern European tour.
