Major League Baseball® Pitch, Hit & Run™ Competition
Mountain State Girls Softball will host a free Major League Baseball® Pitch, Hit & Run™ Competition for area youth on Saturday, May 10th at 9 a.m. at the Gibson L. Barnard Sr. Memorial Field outsided of Shinnston, WV. Pitch, Hit & Run™ (PHR) is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball®. This grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete; free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills.
Boys and girls are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2014 MLB™ All-Star Game®.
The individual Pitching, Hitting and Running Champions, along with the All-Around Champion in each age and gender group at the Local Competition will be awarded and advance to the Sectional Level of Competition.
All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or guardian fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition. Registration/waiver forms will be available the day of the competition. Parents also have the option of filling out the online participant registration form. This form can be completed by a participant/parent at the PHR Homepage (www.mlb.com/phr) prior to attending the competition. The online participant registration form must be printed out, signed by a parent/guardian, and brought to the competition to be considered an official registration form. Participants are encouraged to complete the form prior to attending to help speed up the registration process on competition day.
