Jo Ann Dadisman to Present Ghost Story Workshop at Fairmont State

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on October 09, 2018

SUBMITTED BY FAIRMONT STATE UNIVERSITY:

Just in time for Halloween, Jo Ann Dadisman will present a workshop about ghost stories on Wednesday, October 17 at 7 p.m. in the Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center on the campus of Fairmont State University.

Dadisman has been a storyteller for more than 50 years and an active member of the West Virginia Storytelling Guild, a state-wide organization that promotes both storytelling in the oral tradition and the preservation and understanding of our mountain culture. She received the Bob McWhorter “Clock” award in 2010 for her service to those goals.

A career educator, Dadisman taught many undergraduate writing classes, both for Potomac State and WVU, where she served as English 102 and English 103 Coordinator prior to her retirement. She also served as co-director of the National Writing Project at WVU and conducted writing workshops for state teachers.  She received the WVU Eberly College Outstanding Teacher 2011-2012 award prior to retirement. Since then, Dadisman has conducted a number of writing workshops for Arthurdale Heritage, Inc. and continues her love of weaving story and teaching through storytelling in schools, libraries, parks and festivals.

The ghost story workshop is free and open to the public.
