Much of City without Power; Bridgeport Schools Dismiss Early

UPDATE: According to Mon Power, there is a broken pole at the intersection of Route 279 and 73. Power should be restored to all customers by 2:30 p.m.

Much of Bridgeport is without power early this afternoon due to a utility pole burn out on Route 73. A representative of Mon Power/First Energy said power should be restored soon. All Bridgeport schools will be dismissing at 1:45 p.m. today.
Bridgeport Director of Emergency Services John Chapman said 2,308 customers are without power. He said all restoration is expected by 3 p.m. The incident took place in in the Shinns Run area.
Bridgeport High School and Johnson Elementary were included in buildings without electricity.
