Following the late-June demolition of the Simpson Elementary "Tower" - the 105-year-old original schoolhouse which first housed Bridgeport High School - rebuilding is well under way.
Meanwhile, students start the 2014-2015 school year. Because of the construction, the school's fifth grade students and teachers are utilizing Bridgeport Middle School this year.
Those students, as well as sixth through eighth graders - attended an open house at BMS last night. Simpson students in preschool through fourth grade also attended open house, as did all Johnson Elementary students. After getting their feet wet with a short visit to their classrooms and with their teachers, students attend a full school day today. Send your first day of school photos to info@connect-bridgeport.com for inclusion in our annual back to school gallery. Please include a "back to school" subject line.
