Amie Fiorito Darway of BHS Class of 1992, Former Executive Director of Criss-Cross, Passes Suddenly

She was born April 27, 1974 in Clarksburg, a daughter of James Fiorito and wife Candice of Shinnston; and Solina Fiora of Margate, Florida.
In addition to her parents, Amie is survived by her children, Darian, Dalton, and Drew Darway who live at home; her long-time significant other, Darrin Sandoval; and her children’s father, Mike Darway; her brother, Jamie Fiorito and wife Jules of Margate, FL; step-sisters, Holly Hawkins and husband Rob of Enterprise; and Tammy Crosco and husband Jeremy of Worthington; her uncle, Dr. Daniel Fiora of Charleston; aunts, Marlene Markley of Raleigh, NC; and Norma St. Vincent of Orlando, FL; nieces and nephews, Presley, Austin, Alysse, Parris, and Alura Parsons; Mackenzie and Payton Hawkins; as well as many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Norman and Helen Fiorito; and maternal grandparents, Charles and Sally Fiora.
Amie was a graduate of Bridgeport High School Class of 1992 and went on to graduate from Fairmont State University in 1996. She was formerly the Executive Director of Criss–Cross and was currently employed by Money Management International, Inc. as the Executive Director of Outreach.
She was an advocate for all God’s children who are in need and was a strong supporter of Autism Speaks. No matter what their need, she advocated for a better life for them. Amie was a beloved and devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Shinnston. She served as the current chairperson of the Trustees and Finance committees. She and her son Drew were the inspiration for the Special Needs Ministry at the First United Methodist Church which began in 2015.
Friends will be received at the First United Methodist Church of Shinnston, 64 Rebecca St., on Friday from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. and on Saturday morning from 9-11 a.m. A celebration of Amie’s life will be held at the church at 11 a.m. on Saturday with Pastor Cindy Murphy officiating.
