The Bridge Sports Complex Hosts First Prime Timers Senior Social

The Bridge Sports Complex hosted its first Prime Timers senior social on Tuesday, Dec. 12 with 55 in attendance. Those attending enjoyed social interaction, exercise, craft opportunities and holiday fun and games. Alyson Piot, who headed up the planning committee, said the event was deemed a success and that The Bridge looks forward to hosting additional senior events.
Area residents aged 60 and older are invited to attend the Prime Timers events, which were inspired by conversation with senior members of The Bridge. The intent, Piot said, was to bring people together to find friends and those with similar interests, as well as to introduce them to what Citynet Center at The Bridge has to offer.
“We wanted to do this as a big kickoff event to see who is interested and then go from there,” Piot said. “Then our goal is to start something once a month and eventually even weekly.”
Citynet Center is a beautiful facility; not only a great place to work out, but also an ideal meeting place.
For seniors considering regular visits to The Bridge, Piot said both the Silver Sneakers and Renew Active programs are in place.
“We do accept both now. People can talk to their insurance company to see if they qualify,” she said. “You provide us with a code, and we record your visits, then The Bridge gets paid, but it does not cost you a penny. Both provide essentially a senior platinum membership, and you get classes for free as well.”
