A 9:44 p.m. call for a brush fire in the Middleville Road area turned out to be related to power restoration, according to Bridgeport Fire Department.
“They turned the electric back on in that area and a transformer blew,” said a member of the department. “It happens a lot.”
The small fire was extinguished quickly and units were returned within 30 minutes.
Later Wednesday – just before midnight - units were alerted to a natural gas leak on North Street. Upon their arrival, Dominion Hope was already on scene and the fire department’s service was not needed.
