David Alvarez graduated from BHS in 1981 and from WVU in 1985 with a BS in business administration. He is president and co-owner of MEC Construction. The company performs bridge, industrial, and utility construction in WV and natural gas plant construction and related work throughout the northeast.
Mr. Alvarez has served as president of the WV Utility Contractors, president of the WV Contractors Association, president of the WV Associated Builders and Contractors, the American Society of Highway Engineers, Harrison County Chamber Board member, Medbrook Children's Charity, and MVB Bank Board. He has also served as secretary of the United Hospital Center, vice-president of the WVU Alumni Association and chairman of the WVU Athletic Development Council.
He has been recognized by the FBI as the Citizen of the Year and MEC was named the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce 2009 Business of the Year. He played a major role in the installation of turf at Wayne Jamison Field. Without his support, the project would not have been completed.
