Paddle for a Cause

Check out the NEW AWESOME schedule for Paddle for a Cause! We are excited to partner with Evan Young with Appalachian Boarding Company to host another amazing awesome day that's full of fun on-the-water activities!

Join us for our annual Paddle for a Cause cardboard boat, kayak, and paddle board race! Register today at www.unitedwayhdc.org. 100% of the proceeds are used to better our local community by supporting over 20 incredible causes that support Harrison & Doddridge County residents! All participants are required to bring their own life jackets (pfd), paddles, and helmets. We welcome folks, whether they are racing or not, to come enjoy a "Community Float" on the lake. Paddle For A Cause Schedule - Subject to change 10:15 a.m. early morning check in 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. SUP Yoga (BYOB 'Bring your own board' $15) ($30 for SUP rental/only 20 boards available) (Registration automatically enters you in the SUP race) 10:30 a.m. - Noon - Buid your own boat on the spot! That's right! For $30, you can build your own boat. We will have supplies onsite. 11:30 a.m. registration for SUP/Kayak lessons (BYOB $15) ($30 for SUP rental/only 20 SUP boards available/must bring your own kayak) (Registration automatically enters you in the SUP/Kayak race) Noon – 1:00 p.m. SUP/Kayak lesson class Noon - check in for races (Kayak, canoe, SUP, cardboard boats, MEGA SUP family board, anything that floats class) ALL DAY - Community Float (Social distancing from the water) Come cheer on our racers! 1:15 to 1:30 p.m. – Races begin 1:30 p.m. – Cardboard boat races (buoy race/different divisions) / anything that floats class (blow up rafts, unicorns, air mattress, etc.) 2:00 p.m. – Kayak 100 yard paddle (fastest time) $25 Entry donation 2:15 p.m. – Canoe 100 yard paddle (fastest time) $25 Entry donation 2:45 p.m. – SUP 100 yard paddle (fastest time) $25 Entry donation 3:15 p.m. – Paddle Royal! (FIVE fastest from each class race). A race between all paddle-craft (SUP, kayak, Canoe, and cardboard boats) 3:30 p.m. – Awards - Winners receive trophies and you can even win with an epic sink or wipe out!
