This week's ABB Member Spotlight focuses on Bonamico Construction, owned by Mark Bonamico, pictured with family.
Tell us a little about your business and what you do.
We build custom homes, room additions and provide complete home restorations.
How long have you been in business and what inspired you to get started?
I’ve been in business since 1979 but my passion for building started before that. After graduating from Notre Dame High School in 1976, I studied building Construction at Fairmont State College. During my second year, I was given the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a construction company, working under a master carpenter. I quickly realized that I had found my calling and decided to start my own business. After all these years, it’s still incredibly rewarding to see the results of our hard work every day. I feel truly blessed to wake up each day excited to go to work.
What is your favorite Bridgeport hometown event or tradition and why?
Summer Kickoff because the weather is nice, the music is amazing and being able to see friends that you haven’t seen all winter as it ushers in my favorite time of year.
What do you love most about owning a business in Bridgeport?
I love the clientele of the area because they still see the value of quality work.
What does being part of ABB and the Bridgeport Business community mean to you?
That was easy. Being one of the founding members of the ABB we were and still are excited to connect small
business owners with city wide services and festive events
.
What is something people may not know about you or your business?
For years my morning starts on the quiet Main Street at 5am with a reflective walk to start the day. We begin each day with a simple prayer that the Lord will help us keep our customers happy and our employees healthy and safe. He has faithfully answered that prayer.
If you could tell the Bridgeport Community one thing about your business -or encourage them to do one thing to support local businesses-what would it be?
I would like to tell the Bridgeport community that if you at least give our local small businesses first choice whenever it Is possible your dollars stay right here in our community, supporting local families, businesses, and all of us
