Area Vehicle-Pedestrian Collision Leaves Man Dead

On Thursday, November 13, 2025, at approximately 5:45 p.m., Troopers from the Elkins Detachment of the West Virginia State Police responded to a reported vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision at the intersection of U.S. Route 219 and Harpertown-Gilman Road.
The investigation determined that Mark B. Spencer, 71, of Elkins, had been riding a bicycle on a nearby bike trail and attempted to cross U.S. Route 219 when he was struck by a southbound Ford F-150. Mr. Spencer was pronounced dead at the scene.
A WVSP Crash Reconstructionist responded, and the investigation remains ongoing.
