BHS Tennis Teams Open Season Today

The Bridgeport High School tennis teams will begin their seasons today on the road against Williamstown.
The Indians will also be on the road Thursday at Buckhannon-Upshur and Wednesday, March 20 at Lincoln before playing their home opener at the courts at the lakes, against University on Thursday, March 21.
Expectations are high for the BHS tennis squads and the numbers on the roster are up as well.
"We're very excited for matches to begin as we have a great group of seniors who lead by example, and enthusiastic hardworking underclassmen,” coach Greg Noone said.
"Tennis is an extremely difficult sport to compete in, and in many ways more mental than physical as you must simultaneously assess your play and analyze your opponent's game without the benefit of coaching or timeouts.
"We had 50 students try out for the team, but unfortunately with only four tennis courts we were only able to keep 32 on the team.
"Like other BHS teams we have a duality in our schedule as we compete in AAA tennis, but also in the Big Ten conference which is primarily AA. So it's a challenging schedule."
