BMS Softball Team Falls to Lincoln

On Tuesday afternoon, the BMS Lady Braves hosted the Lincoln Lady Wildcats at the Bridgeport Softball Field and fell 17-3. This was the second meeting this season between the two teams. In the first contest, LMS won by the score of 5-0.

In the top of the second, LMS got on the scoreboard first. Gracie Hardesty started the frame with a single and ended up on third on a two base outfield error. She came around to score on a wild pitch.

Chloe Barlow started the BMS second with a lead off single and a steal of second. She came around to score on a single by Amayah Clark. Clark then stole second. One out later, Clark crossed the plate on a RBI triple by Breanna Laxton. After two innings of play, BMS was up 2-1.

The Lady Wildcats reclaimed the lead in the top of the third. Kennedy Linville singled and went to third on a two base outfield error. She scored on a wild pitch. With two outs, Kiersten Leggett walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Reese Bennett reached base on a BMS throwing error that had Leggett touch home plate. LMS now lead 3-2.

In the fifth inning, the Lady Wildcats scored five runs to take a 8-2 advantage.

In the bottom of the fifth, Olivia Bell lead off with a single. She scored on a one out double by Avery Humble to cut the LMS lead to 8-3.

The Lady Wildcats put the game out of reach by scoring twice in the sixth and seven times in the seventh. BMS was held scoreless in the sixth and seventh innings.

The loss made the Lady Braves season record 7-4.

The Lady Braves return to action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Morgantown to play Westwood Middle School. First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m.
