Bridgeport Football Aims for Rebound Against East Fairmont

By Michael Minnich on September 11, 2026

Bridgeport's 29-game regular season winning streak ended last week against Martinsburg in a closer-than-the-score shows 35-21 loss.

Now, the Tribe (1-1) will aim to start a new one tonight as they welcome the East Fairmont Bees to Wayne Jamison Field at 7 p.m.

Gavin Williams (20 carries, 153 yards, 2 touchdowns) and Gabe Martin (19 carries, 138 yards, 1 touchdown) accounted for the scoring for Bridgeport, which remained at No. 1 in the MetroNews Class AAA power rankings despite the defeat.

Defensively, Martin recorded 10 tackles and Williams 8, while Graham Vincent picked off a pass.

Martinsburg moved up from No. 2 to No. 1 in Class AAAA after the victory.

East Fairmont is 0-2 after losing 24-0 to North Marion and 37-13 to Grafton, both at home.

In the loss to the Bearcats, Logan Eakle passed for both touchdowns, hitting 11 of 20 throws for 91 yards, and added 43 rushing yards on 9 carries.

Jaxson Heskett caught 3 balls for 52 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown, and Cameron Brunett also caught a 4-yard TD pass.

Kaeden Barr rushed 15 times for 105 yards.

Bridgeport leads the all-time series, 47-10.

The two schools didn't play between 2018 and 2024, with Bridgeport winning 50-0 at home in 2024 and 56-14 away last year.

The last three meetings at Bridgeport have all been BHS shutout wins.

East Fairmont's last win, and only one since 1987, came by a 21-0 final in 2005 at East-West Stadium.

The Bees' last win at Bridgeport was 13-7 in 1984.
