Bridgeport Middle Softball Races Past Philippi

On Wednesday evening, Philippi Middle School traveled to the Bridgeport Softball Field to play the Bridgeport Middle Lady Braves.
In the bottom of the first, BMS scored 10 runs.
Three walks, one hit by a pitch, three singles, several wild pitches, and an inside-the-park grand slam homerun by Payton Fisher contributed to the scoring.
Samara Smith was the starting pitcher for the Lady Braves.
She threw two scoreless innings, allowed one hit, had two batters hit by a pitch and struck out two.
The Lady Braves scored four additional runs in the bottom of the second.
Two batters hit by a pitch, one walk, three Philippi errors, several wild pitches, and two ground outs brought the runs home.
After two innings, BMS was up 14-0.
In the top of the third, Aubree Owens came in relief of Smith.
Philippi scored two runs on three walks and a single. The scoreboard read BMS 14 and Philippi 2.
In the bottom of the third, Aubree Owns and Rosie Owens singled to start the inning.
Two outs later, Gwen Martin was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Walks to Julie Hall and Chloe Via brought home both Aubree Owens and Rosie Owens.
A wild pitch allowed Martin to score and end the game at 17-2.
The Lady Braves will be in action on Friday evening when Suncrest Middle School comes to the Bridgeport Softball Field. First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m.
