Bridgeport Soccer Teams Sweep Robert C. Byrd

By Michael Minnich on September 09, 2026

County, Big 10 and regional statements were made by the Bridgeport Indians boys and girls soccer teams at Robert C. Byrd on Tuesday.

Facing their rivals and one of the major roadblocks to their dual returns to the state tournament, the Tribe boys pulled out a 2-1 win, while the girls blanked the Flying Eagles, 3-0.

Grayson Church took care of both goals for the BHS boys, giving his team the lead in the third minute, then, after a Ben Wiseman goal the other way midway through the first half, striking again in the 57th minute.

Taelyn Sims in the 24th minute, Molly Frenzel later in the first half and Lindsey Callahan in the 52nd minute did the damage for Bridgeport.

The Bridgeport boys are now 6-0-0, while the girls have won three in a row, all shutouts, to run their record to 4-2-1.

Both teams host Preston on Thursday at 6 p.m. for the boys and 8 p.m. for the girls.
