This week’s City Face loves traveling, but proudly calls Bridgeport her lifelong home. Meet Dareth Murphy!
 
Tell me about your family.
Crazy cat lady spinster status. My 8-month-old niece, Callie, is my (partner in crime).
 
What about pets?
I have four cats! I’m also a foster mom for rescues.
 
Where do you work and what do you do there?
I have been bartending at Garfield’s for 5 years - and love it. I have recently started my own enterprise of cleaning and decluttering and also pet sitting. 
 
What are your hobbies/favorite past times?
Galavanting and traveling, sleeping in, binging shows.
 
Favorite Bridgeport spot? 
Hometown Marketplace and Twin Oaks
 
Why do you like about Bridgeport … why is this a good place to live?
The tranquility.
 
One – or more – of your favorite memories of something that took place in Bridgeport ...
Growing up with three younger brothers, I spent over 20 years at the baseball fields.
 
What is your favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport?
Shepherdstown
 
How about your favorite place outside of WV?
California, Tennessee and New York City
 
What are some of your favorite things? Food/restaurant? Favorite color? Music genre/artist?
Animals, Milano Cookies, Cersei Lannister, spray tans, procrastination, Jesus, avocado toast, Dolly Parton, thrift shopping, underdogs, Sephora, Miley Cyrus... these are a few of my favorite things.
 
What is your best childhood memory?
Growing up on Grand Avenue – the best neighborhood in the world.
 
Interesting fact about you and/or something you would like to add…
One of my biggest passions is pet adoption advocacy. I want to bring awareness to how amazing and important it is to adopt and not shop. Rescue animals are loving beings, grateful to have a second chance at a happy life in a forever home. So, next time you’re looking to add another member to your brood, visit the local shelter or research rescue groups!
