City Faces in Different Places

By Julie Perine on January 17, 2021 from City Faces

This week's Bridgeport City Face is Amy Reinhart. Meet her here!

How long have you lived in Bridgeport? If not a lifelong resident, tell me what brought you here.
I grew up in Bridgeport and graduated in 1992 from BHS.

Are you married, have kids? Tell me about your family.
I am happily married for almost 20 years to Michael Reinhart. I have two boys who attend BHS. Joseph is a sophomore and enjoys playing soccer for BHS. Joshua is a Junior, and enjoys XC and Track. He also enjoys participating in the local Challenger League Sports events for special needs children.

What about pets?
I have two adorable cats named Yoshi and Cheez-it.

Where do you work and what do you do there?
I am a first grade teacher at Johnson Elementary. I am very blessed to work in a great work environment and so close to home. I have a wonderful class this year, and I hope they are back in my classroom soon.

What are your hobbies/favorite past times?
I am also a stained glass artisan. I enjoy creating many different kinds of art with glass, such as sun catchers, panels, mosaics, fused glass in my kiln, and stained glass and fused glass jewelry. I sell my products at the Starving Artist in downtown Bridgeport and on Etsy.

I am an avid gardener and can’t wait for spring to come to clean out my many flower gardens and plant my vegetable garden. I have a small koi pond in my largest flower garden that I enjoy taking care of too.
.
I am an advocate for autism and children on the spectrum like my son. I volunteer for the Corridor Chapter of AS, which is the local autism group that provides many fun activities for children with autism free of charge for Harrison and surrounding counties. The group has an annual autism walk in April that raises funds for the participating children’s activities. My son Joshua and his many friends in the group are very grateful for all those that support the walk and their efforts.

Favorite Bridgeport spot?
Bridgeport has changed over the years thatI have lived here. It continues to grow, but I still find myself drawn to downtown Bridgeport. I love the atmosphere of the buildings and the small shops that are there.

What do you like about Bridgeport … why is this a good place to live?
Bridgeport is a wonderful place to live. My other three siblings, (Mike Ferber, Andy Ferber, and Katie Ferber Seybert), have moved on to bigger places, but I find the small-town life the perfect fit for me. My parents Phil and Nancy Ferber still live close by to me in Bridgeport where I can visit often.

I love how the community gathers and celebrates together for many occasions such as light up night, sports events, parades, and so much more.

What is your favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport?
My family enjoys hiking, and biking in the many WV parks and rail trails.

How about your favorite place outside of WV?
My favorite vacation spot outside of WV is Holden Beach in NC.

What are some of your favorite things?
I enjoy reading books when I find spare time between my hobbies. I also enjoy searching for vintage hand blown crackle glass bottles, vases, and unique shaped glass in antique shops.

Food/restaurant?
We have so many good restaurants in town now, it is hard to choose my favorite. I do enjoy a good steak dinner or Mexican.

Favorite color?
My favorite color is chartreuse green.

Music genre/artist?
I enjoy listening to classic rock, 80s music, Christmas music, any John Williams composition.

What is your best childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory was when my parents took my siblings and I on a four-week camping trip across the country. We stopped at all the classic tourist traps and national parks along the way. We camped at Yellowstone for a while, and then returned home, continuing to stop at various cities and places on our path. It was an amazing adventure. I was lucky to have grown up in an adventurous family.
