City Faces in Different Places

Please take a moment to meet this week’s City Face Laura Pysz, sponsored by Higinbotham & Higinbotham, PLLC:
 
How long have you lived in Bridgeport? Laura moved to Bridgeport in 2003. She moved here to be the manager of the Dick’s Sporting Goods at the Meadowbrook Mall when it first opened. 
 
Where are you originally from? Laura is originally from Hooversville, Pennsylvania.  
 
Are you married? Yes, to Steve Pysz.  Steve is from Independence, West Virginia.  He graduated from Independence High School in 1990 and joined the Army after graduation.  They were married in Sophia, West Virginia in July of 1998.
 
Children? Laura and Steve have two daughters.  Danica, 10, will be in 5th grade at Johnson Elementary School.  She enjoys basketball, fishing, four-wheeling and being outdoors.  Ziva, 7, will be in 2nd grade at Johnson Elementary.  She also enjoys the outdoors.
 
What is your favorite color? Blue
 
Where do you work? Laura is the director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management for the city of Bridgeport. 
 
Favorite Bridgeport spot? The peaceful and calm environment of Hinkle and Deegan Lakes make them her favorite spot in the city.
 
Favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport? Twin Falls State Park is a favorite of Laura’s and her family.  They enjoy cabin camping, the beautiful atmosphere and hunting nearby. 
 
Favorite place outside of WV? Cancun, Mexico because of its beautiful water, friendly and appreciate the people and it’s culture.
 
Favorite restaurant? Any seafood restaurant
 
Best childhood memory? Volunteering with her school classmates at a soup kitchen and playing soccer are memories she remembers fondly.
 
Favorite musical group? Laura usually listens to country music.  She especially enjoys the tunes of Sam Hunt and Tim McGraw. 
 
Pets? A chinchilla named Pedro
 
Hobbies? Hunting, fishing, volunteering and four-wheeling with her family
 
Interesting fact about you? When Laura was nine-years-old she had Guillain-Barresyndrome.  It completely paralyzed her for an entire month.  She doesn’t remember being frightened but she remembers her parents being upset.
