City Faces in Different Places

By Hannah Edwards on March 17, 2019 from City Faces

Please take a moment to check out this week’s City Face, Jami Cooper.

How long have you lived in Bridgeport?  18 years

Where are you originally from?  I lived in Hagerstown, Maryland, until I was 14 when my family moved to Fairfax County, Virginia.

Are you married?  Yes, my husband Dan and I own Cooper Law Offices, PLLC, which is in Bridgeport.

Children? I have a 14-year old son, Brennan Cropp, who is in 8th grade at BMS.  I also have three step children:  Adam Cooper, Danielle
White, and Andrea Cooper.  Danielle and her husband, Garrett, had a sweet baby boy, Brooks, in July, and we are completely in awe of him!

What is your favorite color? Tough one – I don’t really have a favorite, but if I had to choose, it would probably be green (Happy St. Pat’s).

Where do you work?  I am a lawyer at Cooper Law Offices, PLLC.

Favorite Bridgeport spot?  Hinkle & Deegan Lakes and Almost Heaven are two of my favorite places in town.

Favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport?  Pendleton County.  My grandmother’s family is from there, and I spent a lot of time there growing up.  It’s so quiet and has some of the most picturesque scenery in the State.  A close second is the West Virginia Scenic Highway, though.

Favorite place outside of WV?  Holden Beach, North Carolina.  My husband and I were married there, and it is the place that we have gone for a lot of family vacations.  We have a lot of great memories there!

Favorite restaurant?  I can’t possibly choose one – we have so many great options!  Truth be told, we are so busy and eat out so much, that my favorite place to eat is at home!  My husband and I really enjoy our occasional trips to Provence Market, though.

Best childhood memory? It would probably have to be my dad’s garden.  He had a huge garden and grew all kinds of things – from asparagus to zucchini.  We’d have fresh strawberries in the spring, and pumpkins in the fall, and our dinners all           summer long would be full of goodies straight out of that garden.

Favorite musical group?  I love music, and I have such eclectic taste, but I’d say that the musician that I never tire of seeing live is Dave Matthews.

Pets? Dan and I do not have any pets, but we have a grand-dog – a very sweet and energetic golden retriever named Belle.

Hobbies? My son plays basketball and runs cross-country and track, so I don’t have too much free time.  It’s generally spent running him around and watching his various games and meets!  When I do have free time, I like to read and travel.

Interesting fact about you? A few years ago, a friend, who is in law enforcement, and I started talking to groups of pre-teens, teens and their parents about the risks that exist with online activities.  We’ve talked with countless groups of kids and their parents, school nurses, lawyers, and others who work with that age group, and it’s been really rewarding.  As a parent, I know that keeping up with the online activities of our kids is difficult, and that there is so much that many of us don’t know, but wish we did.  We’re trying to give parents some guidance while, at the same time, illustrate the very real dangers that exist for the kids.
