City Faces in Different Places

By Hannah Edwards on March 31, 2019 from City Faces

Please take a moment to check out this week’s City Face, Kim Kinkelaar.

How long have you lived in Bridgeport?  I moved here as a young girl originally from Clarksburg. My curiosity took me to Pittsburgh for a short period; but once I started a family, I knew I wanted Bridgeport to be my girls’ home too. I’ve been here ever since.

Where are you originally from?  Clarksburg

Are you married?  I was married once thirty-five years ago. But I’m currently single. The union produced three beautiful girls.

Children? 3 beautiful daughters. My girls; Marissa, Megan, and Mary. Marissa is a kind-hearted empath. Megan is determined and strong willed and extremely adventurous. Mary can be a little “bossy” but she’s also our family’s moral compass. They each would say they are my favorite. I can’t imagine my life without them.

What is your favorite color?  Red because of Christmas which has always been a special time with family celebrating the birth of our savior.

Where do you work?  I manage GNC at the Meadowbrook mall. I really love Health and wellness, but I also love helping people.

Favorite Bridgeport spot?  Main Street Fitness. I teach spin there. They are like family to me.

Favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport? Morgantown because I get to see my grandson Boaz and my grand-furbaby, Miley.

Favorite place outside of WV?  I don’t travel much outside of Bridgeport and Morgantown (why would I when this is where my grand babies are?!) I do love West Virginia so much, there’s no need to be anywhere else but heaven in the hills. If I had to take time to leave my hometown; it would be for a short period and be with my family on mini vacation to Deep Creek Md. I love the mountains. In addition, I do love to travel to Houston, Texas to visit my great nephews, Luke Alexander and Parker John Llaneza. They call me aunt Kiki

Favorite restaurant? Twin Oaks. There’s so much family history there. My sister Karen worked there. My daughter Mary worked there. My family always gathers there for celebrations. My babies were eating their piazzas before they could walk. Literally.

Best childhood memory? Playing with my sister Karen growing up in Stealey, roller skating riding our bikes and swimming at Watersmith Park! Best group participation is my Dance classes on Second Street at the Bonnie's dance studio and the Recitals at the Robinson
Grand Theater!

Favorite musical group?  Any group that gets me to dance! I love to dance!

Pets? Yes, my sweet Shelty-retriever, “Bella Rose!” She gives me unconditional love.

Hobbies? Working out at MSF, Netflix marathons, decorating for holidays, and loving my family.

Interesting fact about you? Surprisingly, I enjoy my quiet time alone time to soul search and reflect at home. I love nature and enjoying the outdoors. But there’s an ongoing family joke where my family claims when I’m in a hurry to get things done; I can pick things up that are 3x my body weight with no help, my daughters say I can move things with my mind. You may say my virtue of impatience’s has its advantages. I get things done when I set my mind to it. In addition, I can post a picture of my grandsons, Boaz and Baker, on Facebook in less than 3 seconds of receiving it.

Editor's Note:If you or someone you know would like to be featured as a City Face please email Hannah Edwards at hannah@connect-bridgeport.com. Pictured is Kim above and her sister Sargent First Class Karen L. Alexander that passed away. She was Kim's best friend.
