City Faces in Different Places

By Julie Perine on February 06, 2022 from City Faces

This week's Bridgeport City Face is Sherri Goodwin. Learn about her, her involvement in our city and meet her family here:

Hi Sherri! Tell us a little bit about you and your family...
My husband, Wayne and I have two sons: Alec (AJ) who is 20 years old and a student at WVU and Sam who is 14 and a freshman at Bridgeport High School. We have two Bernedoodles, Jagger and Rico. Wayne and I have lived in Bridgeport since 2000 and we are both originally from nearby towns.

How did you two meet?
Wayne and I met through mutual friends. Wayne’s best friend's mother was best friends with my mother (I know, sounds confusing) and she mentioned to my mom that she knew a “nice single guy.” At the time, I lived in Ashland, KY. We started talking over the phone for a couple weeks and met in person when I made a trip home to see my family. We have been together ever since.

Why do you like it here in Bridgeport?
I like living in Bridgeport for many reasons: The safety aspect, feeling comfortable and familiar, the school system that is bar none - the best in the state - and the involvement of parents having a similar goal for our children to excel academically, socially and personally.

What is your favorite Bridgeport event?
My favorite event in the city has always been opening day Little League baseball held at the Recreation Complex. There are so many teams ranging in age from 4 to 13 years old, representing various local businesses in the community. Opening day is always about the kids being individually recognized.

What Bridgeport spot does your family most frequent?
Twin Oaks

Where do you work and what do you do there?
I work for Insulet Corporation promoting insulin delivery devices for patients living with T1 and T2 diabetes. I travel a large portion of West Virginia and some counties within bordering states.

What are your hobbies and passtimes?
My favorite hobbies are shopping, decorating, and attending sporting events with my family.

Do you have any goals - personally or professionally?
My professional goal is to continue and strive for what seems unattainable. I love professional challenges and the results once achieved. My personal goals center around focusing on our boys being humble, kind, and hardworking.

What is your best Bridgeport memory?
By far, that would be when my oldest son's Little League team won the WV State Championships their 10-12-year-old team when Wayne was the manager. There is nothing that beats Little League IMO.

What are your favorite restaurants?
My favorite local restaurants are Twin Oaks, Oliverios and Wonder Bar.

What's on your playlist?
The tunes on my playlist are mostly country songs.

Do you have a favorite TV show/series?
My favorite thing to watch on tv is mostly anything on HGTV. I also enjoy watching sporting events with my family although they prefer that I don’t as I ask way too many questions.

If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be?
It would be Hawaii. We have been there twice and I would go back a hundred times over.

What has been your favorite vacation?
My favorite past vacation is a tie between a trip to Hawaii with Wayne or a family trip to Punta Cana.

What is an interesting tidbit about you?
I have lived with T1 diabetes since the ago of 9 and have a true passion for helping others through my profession.
