City Faces in Different Places

By Michelle Duez on April 20, 2014 from City Faces

My son Michael runs track at Bridgeport High School.  Over the years I’ve gotten to know so many wonderful people through the BHS Track and Field.  Yesterday, during the Harry Green Statewide Invitational volunteering in the concession stand, I got to know Lorna Hutchenson.  Please take a few minutes to get to know my new friend Lorna.  I’d also like to wish everyone a very Happy Easter!

How long have you lived in Bridgeport? Nine years, moved here in 2005 from Vista, Arizona.  She lived in Vista Arizona for twelve years.

Where are you originally from? Doniphan, Missouri – several hours south of St. Louis.

Are you married? Yes, to Lafe Hutchinson for twenty years.

Children? Lorna and Lafe have four children.  Cody, 19, is studying math at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee; Cordell, 15, is sophomore at BHS; Michaela, 13, is in seventh grade at BMS and Meagan, 10, is in the fifth grade at Johnson Elementary School.

What is your favorite color? Orange

Where do you work? Lorna is an IT Specialist at the FBI.

Favorite Bridgeport spot? Lorna and her husband Lafe both enjoy City Park.  They run there, watch their kids athletics there and enjoy it’s beauty.

Favorite WV spot outside of Bridgeport? Prickett’s Fort State Park because Lorna likes its history, different crafts, interaction with the people and she enjoys the look back into the simpler life.

Favorite place outside of WV? Chaco Canyon, New Mexico – it is home to Chaco Culture National Historical Park.  She says that it is the most amazing Indian ruins you will ever see.  She also said it is peaceful, quiet, a phenomenal work of beauty and a great place to camp and hike.

Favorite musical group? Imagine Dragons and other alternative music, she likes 80s music too.

Pets? Lorna has three dogs – Spud, Sleepy & Lemon Drop and three cats – Salt, Pepper and Mocha.

Hobbies? Running, volunteering at her church – Bridgeport Church of Christ, being with her children and sewing quilts when she can find the time are her hobbies.

Interesting fact about you? Lorna played on the All Army Volleyball team in 1996.  She has a full-ride basketball scholarship to a junior college and then went to West Point for four years where she walked-on to their volleyball team.
