Any pregame superstitions or rituals?
Before every game we pray as a team and before every game I get a Pure Heaven from Winnie’s, it’s a protein shake, it’s super good and I have to have one.
What game or match of your career sticks out the most?
My sophomore year at states, we played Oak Glen. The energy was crazy during that game and I played one of my best games.
What one word best describes Coach Burton?
Determined

What’s the best part of it being Fall?
The pumpkin spice drinks, I love them.

Grace Backus

Eye of the Tiger
Where’s one place in the world you have never been to that you would like to visit?
Jerusalem, I’ve always wanted to go there.
Favorite meal?
At Thanksgiving, all of it. The turkey, the stuffing, the mashed potatoes, the corn. Oh my gosh, I’m so excited just thinking about it.
Favorite pro or college athlete?
Lexi Sun from Nebraska, she’s my favorite college athlete I’ve ever seen.
Favorite pro or college team?
Probably the (Los Angeles) Rams, I like them because of the helmet so they are the only football team I’m interested in watching.
What’s the worst candy you can get when you go Trick or Treating?
Whoppers, 100 percent. I hate those.
Best side dish for Thanksgiving dinner?
Sweet potato casserole

Penguins

Hot dogs. I hate hot dogs.

What is the most important thing being an athlete at BHS has taught you?
It ties in to both athletics and life, 90 percent of the game is mental so you have to overcome negative thoughts. I use that in school and life. You just have to stay positive.
There’s a young kid in the community just getting into soccer, what advice do you give him or her?
If you are not doing the best that you could, keep trying. Perseverance helps a lot in this sport.
