Healthy Faces: Meet Amy Hinkle

By Julie Perine on August 28, 2021 from Healthy Faces

Each week, Healthy Harrison - Health Games - The Encore features a local Healthy Face. Today, we meet Amy (Miller) Hinkle, who shares some insight regarding a healthy lifestyle.

Tell us a little about yourself, your family, what you do here in our community, etc.

My name is Amy Hinkle. I’m a high school English teacher and live in Quiet Dell with my husband Todd and three very active children (Henley, Iris, and Hudson). I worship at the Reynoldsville Baptist Church and teach classes at Rival Fitness. I love being around supportive, empowering people!

What is your favorite motivational/self-help book? My favorite book for guidance and self-help is the Bible. I follow many inspirational fitness leaders on FB- especially “Redefining Strength” with Cori

Favorite healthy meal? We love grilled salmon with cheesy garlic asparagus. I meal plan weekly, and this one always makes the rotation.

Favorite workout? I love all things active!! Combat, piyo, and spin are my current favorites, but nothing beats a long walk with friends!

How do you fit health and wellness into your busy lifestyle? I personally enjoy working out at 5 a.m., so I have my whole day ahead of me. I can be present and available for my family in the evenings and attend their activities. Meal planning and prepping on the weekends also helps our busy lifestyle.

What is your favorite motivational quote? “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” Maya Angelou

How did your health journey start? My health journey started with wanting to be comfortable in my own skin. After being a high school and collegiate athlete- I wanted to stay active as an adult. Now I want my children to see how to take care of their bodies with movement and nutrition. I’ll never arrive at the destination, but having fun on the journey!

What songs are on your playlist and motivate you to work out? "Even Then" by Micah Taylor, "Greater" by Mercy Me, "It’s Not Over Yet" by King & Country, "I Like To Win" by Shonlock,  "Whatever It Takes," and "The Champion" are some of my favorites.

What are some easy tiny habits that you recommend people start with on their journey? Make a plan! You don’t have to commit to a full year, month, or even a week. Healthy decisions one day at a time can result in big changes. Decide. Commit. Succeed.
