Main Street Businesses to Host Holiday Open House

By Julie Perine on October 28, 2023

Main Street businesses are joining forces to host a Holiday Open House on Saturday, Nov. 11. Participating businesses will be open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring their newest products including holiday finds. Upon starting their excursions, shoppers will be given a card containing the name of participating businesses. The cards can be stamped at each stop.

“When the card is filled, they are asked to drop the completed card at their final destination and on Sunday, November 12, one card will be drawn,” said Lisa Lang, owner of About You Monograms and Main Street Pop Up. “The individual chosen will win a gift from each business that can be picked up during the week of November 13.”

Participating stores are About You Monograms, Almost Heaven Desserts, Artworks, Daisy on Main, HempWorks, Main Street Pop Up, Market on Main, Mountain Mama Magick, SunMoon Apparel, and Winnie’s Café.

“All involved are excited to be providing this type of event downtown,” Lang said. “We invite the community to begin their holiday shopping by visiting each merchant for all of their holiday gift giving needs.”

The Holiday Open House is a great precursor to the Nov. 25 Shop Small Saturday and an exciting preview of holiday lines, said Lotus MacDowell, owner of Artworks.

“We have some awesome stuff this year – all kinds of great gifts,” said MacDowell, specifically mentioning sterling necklaces featuring phases of the moon and ornament/activity kits for kids, complete with a QR code that provides a virtual visit with Santa.

The West Virginia ornament line continues and another gift to consider is custom framing.

“If you want to give someone a lasting gift, frame up a memory,” she said. “If you have something of emotional value to you, bring it in and let us frame it up. We make your memory a masterpiece.”

This year’s Holiday Open House is early, but shoppers start earlier each year.

“We might as well get on the bandwagon. It gets people in the mood for the whole holiday season,” MacDowell said. “The days of starting everything after Thanksgiving are over.”

Owner of Market on Main - which houses several shops and vendors – Perris Reed looks forward to the Nov. 11 event.

“A downtown open house that supports small businesses is a win-win for the community – boosting the local economy, fostering a strong sense of community spirit and unity and celebrating the diversity and vitality of small businesses in our area,” she said.
