Marshall's Jarrod West to Enter NCAA Transfer Portal
By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on March 23, 2021
As first reported by the The Herald-Disptach in Huntington, Marshall University’s Jarrod West is entering the NCAA transfer portal.
West, a former Notre Dame High School standout that led the school to a Class A state championship the same year he was selected as the state’s player of the year, had four successful seasons with the Thundering Herd.
Because of COVID-19 related issues, the NCAA granted all winter sports athletes an extra year of eligibility.
While at Marshall, West started since his freshman year, was an All-Conference USA All-Academic Team selection and an All-Conference USA All-Defensive Team selection in both his junior and senior seasons.
Additionally, West earned third-team all-conference honors as a junior and second-team all-conference honors as a senior.
In his senior season with the Thundering Herd, West reached the 1,000-point mark for his career and become the school’s all-time leader in steals with 254. That steal total is also second best all time in Conference USA.
During his four years at Marshall, West averaged 9.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.0 steals per game.
