Morgantown Police Officer Killed in Off-Duty Accident

It is with deep sadness that The Morgantown Police Department must announce the death of Patrol Officer First Class and K-9 handler Zane A. Breakiron.
Officer Breakiron was involved in a single motor vehicle accident while off duty sometime late Friday night or early Saturday morning. The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the crash.
Officer Breakiron was approaching his seventh year of service to the community of Morgantown and was a decorated officer with MPD. This loss has impacted every member of our department.
We express our sincere sorrow and condolences to Zane’s family and loved ones.
