City Council will head into the final month of the calendar year with a regular meeting and on paper, it doesn't appear as if it will be a long one.
There are five new business items on the agenda for the meeting that will begin at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
Council will consider and act on addendums to City personnel policies and look into creating a new bank account for future opioid settlement funds.
A decision will also be made on the payment to the West Virginia Consolidated Public Retirement Board on behalf of City Council.
“We’re just going to back-fund some people who want to join the retirement system,” Councilman Jon Griffith said. “Like, for me I can’t do it until I’m re-elected then I could pay all the previous money I would have put in for this term and the city would match it. We would both pay the back part of it and then start moving forward they would deduct it from my pay and they would match it.”
The city’s governing body will also consider and act upon Phase 3 of the Stormwater and Infrastructure Improvement Initiative with The Thrasher Group in the amount of $24,500.
The final act of business for Council will be deciding on rescheduling a Dec. 25 meeting to Dec. 12
“This is simply so we won’t have to have a meeting on Christmas Day, Griffith said.
As of now, there are no awards or presentations scheduled for Monday’s meeting and no unfinished business on the agenda. There is also no scheduled work session.
The invocation will be led by Dr. Matthew Paugh of Bridgeport United Methodist Church.
As always, a time for public comments will be included in the meeting and Council encourages the community to come and speak.
