Police Arrest Man in Recent Area Gunshot Murder

On Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, West Virginia State Troopers responded to the residence of Preston L. Higgins, 1366 Ward Road in Randolph 
County and discovered Higgins deceased in his driveway with a single gunshot wound to his chest.

Through investigation that followed, and evidence gathered from the crime scene, Troopers discovered evidence which aided in the development of a person of interest which was seen with the victim prior the shooting.
Troopers tracked down this individual which eventually led to the discovery of information leading to the arrest of Dallas Ray Bryant, Harmon, on Friday Nov. 17 for the murder of Preston L. Higgins.
Trooper B. K. Riffle, of the Elkins Detachment, of the West Virginia State Police was the investigating Trooper.
