Shinnston Holds Ribbon Cutting for Rail Trail Revamp

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on August 20, 2025

Local, Harrison County, and state officials gathered earlier this month for a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the City of Shinnston to celebrate the completion of a recreational destination overhaul.

The ceremony was held for the recently revamped trailhead and downtown portion of the Rails To Trail. According to the City of Shinnston, many people who were involved in getting this completed were on hand to celebrate the gathering.

A social media post said that among those on hand were Senate President and Lt. Governor Randy Smith, Senator Ben Queen, County Commission President Susan Thomas and County Commissioner Patsy Trecost. Opening remarks were delivered by Mayor Patrick Kovalck.
