For the first time in a decade, The West Virginia Economic Development Council Annual Fall Conference will be held in Bridgeport.
Hosted by the Harrison Economic Development Corporation, the conference will be held Sept. 22-24 at Bridgeport Conference Center. This year’s theme is “The Silver Lining.”
Bringing economic development professionals and organizations from throughout the Mountain State together, the WVEDC collaborates on common programs and activities to support business and industry, including the attraction of new business.
“We are so pleased that the fall conference of The West Virginia Economic Development Council will be held here in our city,” said Cassie Busdeker, Executive Director of the Greater Bridgeport Convention & Visitors Bureau, one of several host planning team partners. “Highlighting the first day will be a tour of our new airport terminal, as well as Aerotech Park, UHC, the FBI and the Bridge Sports Complex. We’re very proud of these cutting-edge facilities that have brought travel, health amenities, recreation, and employment opportunities to our growing city.”
The tour will also include a stop at the Robinson Grande Theater, where an evening reception will be held.

After introductions by West Virginia Senator Ben Queen, Sept. 23 will feature several speakers, representing White Oaks and Charles Pointe, the Mid-Atlantic Aerospace Complex, and UHC, among other areas and organizations. Other segments will feature cybersecurity and AI, infrastructure, workforce development, and more. There will be ample time for networking and brainstorming about a positive economic development forecast for West Virginia.
Among activities of closing day, Johnnie Rominger of Bad Lizard Granite & Quartz will present a project success story to provide advice and encourage other small businesses.
“The CVB always strives to bring visitors to the area and to support a good quality of life to those who have chosen to make Bridgeport their home,” Busdeker said. “Involvement in the WVEDC is an ideal avenue to collaborate with others invested in those same goals for areas throughout the state.”
