The Grapevine: A Local Look at Artificial Intelligence

By Rosalyn Queen on March 07, 2024

The Harrison County Chamber of Commerce once again presented “Business Breakfast” at  the Hilton Garden Inn in Clarksburg's NewPointe development.  The breakfast was hosted by the Hilton.  Approximately 50 members and guests were present.

Kathy Wagner, HCC president, welcomed all present and introduced Chris May MS, CISS from Advantage Technology as the speaker.  The subject was AI, or Artificial Intelligence.

May spoke about the founders and the original goal of friendly use and interaction with the computer.  He explained the robot interest with programming. He stated that the mission of AI is to benefit humanity.

Following his presentation a question and answer session was held. A very interested audience submitted questions to May for very intelligent answers. AI is the way of the future and individuals need to understand how it functions.

May is the Security Solutions Director for Advantage Technology, which has a home office on Johnson Avenue in Bridgeport. He can be reached at 304-342-0796.

Marla Feree with the HCC thanked those in attendance and announced that these breakfasts will continue to keep Chamber members advised of projects of interest in our area.

On Sunday, April 7 , the Progressive Women's Association will present a program to honor the Young Progressive Women's Association members who will be leaving the organization and become members of the PWA.  The ceremony will be held at the Uptown Event Center in Clarksburg. For information, call 304-624-6881. This program is being sponsored by Rhonda Holyfield Mangieri.

The Clarksburg Farmers Market will be opening soon and is planning a special Mother's Day event on the Saturday before Mother’s Day (May 11). Contact Betty Waddy, PWA President, for information.

Stay healthy, take care and until next week “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
