The Grapevine: Mother's Day and Markets

By Rosalyn Queen on April 30, 2026

If you happen to be browsing the calendar, you noticed that Mother's Day will be here in just a week or so.

It is one of those holidays that will bring as much joy to the giver as it does to the recipient.

I hope you will give some thought as to what you might do with and for your mother.

Let's start a tradition……let’s have an. “Ask And Tell “ session with mom.

What am I talking about?

Sitting next to you is a lot of knowledge that no one else knows.

It may soon be lost if you do not ask and she tells.

This might be information about your grandparents.

It might be information about your birth, about your first steps and what food you ate first.

It might be funny things that happened or sad events in your life.

You may learn that she has forgotten some of these events or all the details, but what she has to share will be a lifetime of memories.

I would also suggest that you record these sessions for further review.

Do not go too long, as mom might get too tired.

Now is the time to present mom with a thoughtful gift.

Maybe a family picture that has been taken ahead of time.

I assure you this will be one of the best presents you and MOM will ever partake in.

Next, I want to announce that the Clarksburg Farmers Market will be opening on Saturday, May 9, in the Tractors Supply parking lot on Emily Drive.

The committee has worked tirelessly on expanding the vendors and will have entertainment and certain events for those attending the. Market.

On May 9, there will be a special area for children to transplant a flower in a teacup to present to their mothers for Mother's Day.

Handling this event will be the Clarksburg Public Library.

The bookmobile will also be there and the youngsters will be presented with a free book.

The committee has been able to get a varied number of vendors and some that will appeal to everyone..  there is no admission charge to visit.

There is a lot going on in Clarksburg and I encourage you to visit these events.

Now I can say, summer is on its way.

Stay cool, enjoy the sunshine and until next week “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
