Twenty Players Make up 2023 Braves Softball Roster

Tryouts started on Feb. 27 with 30 student athletes competing to make the Bridgeport Middle School softball team roster. All 30 gave the coaches the unenviable task of determining who would make the team. In the end, 20 individuals were selected to be the 2023 edition of the Lady Braves.
The team is comprised of eighth graders Olivia Corder, Addyson Edwards, Gracia Knight, Mahaylee Messenger, Mia Shaughnessy, and Kennedy Wolfe. The seventh graders are Karsyn Adams, Olivia Bell, Chloe Barlow, Amayah Clark, Emma Dale, Sylvia Devono, Madilyn Fittro, Avery Humble, Breanna Laxton, and Addison Mike. The four sixth graders are Mara Beverage, Sophia Rovello, Madilyn Thomas, and Anniston Veigel.
The Lady Braves open the season today, Monday, March 20, as they host Washington Irving at the Bridgeport Softball Field, located directly behind the middle school. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
Making his middle school softball debut as assistant coach is Jason Dale. Returning for his fourteenth season as coach is Billy Estok.
