A Bluefield man who was wanted for multiple felonies has been apprehended in Clarksburg.
Gary Eugene Wilson, 50, was arrested without incident by the US Marshals Service near 215 W. Main Street at approximately 12:30PM. Wilson was wanted by the Hinton Police Department for: attempting to commit a felony punishable by life in prison, wanton endangerment with a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, and escape from custody.
On December 16, Wilson is alleged to have traveled to a home in Hinton and fired multiple rounds into a residence while the occupants were inside. Following the shooting, Wilson is then alleged to have fled from that residence in a white truck. Hinton Police Officers, along with the Summers County Sheriffs Office and the West Virginia State police located the white truck and Wilson while conducting a search warrant on Sand Knob Road in Nimitz. A firearm was also recovered from the white truck during the search.
On the same date, following his arrest, Wilson was transported to the Hinton Police Department for processing. While at the police department, Wilson is alleged to have slipped out of his restraints and fled from the office. A search of the area was conducted to locate Wilson, but he was able to avoid apprehension.
The US Marshals Service CUFFED Task Force was requested to assist locating Wilson after his escape. On December 29, Investigators contacted the US Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force to follow up on a lead in the North Central West Virginia area. On January 5, Deputy US Marshals and Task Force officers identified Wilson as a passenger in a vehicle in downtown Clarksburg. After the vehicle was parked near 215 W. Main St, members of the Task Force, along with the Clarksburg Police Department and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office arrested Wilson without incident. Wilson was processed by the Clarksburg Police Department and will appear in Harrison County before returning to Summers County.
