Weather Forces Adjustments for Campus at WVU

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on February 11, 2021

West Virginia University in Morgantown will adjust some of its on-campus operations for Thursday, Feb. 11 due to inclement weather and deteriorating road conditions.

Thursday was previously designated as a non-instructional date on the academic calendar. As a result, no classes were scheduled. Health Sciences students on clinical rotations should check in with their program directors for additional guidance.

Employees who can work remotely are encouraged to coordinate with their supervisor to do so. Those who have essential on-campus assignments should use good judgment when traveling in inclement weather. Supervisors are asked to be flexible and understanding with their direct reports if they are unable to make it to work.

WVU Dining Services
WVU Dining Services locations will operate under holiday hours on Thursday. The three dining halls — Café Evansdale, Summit Café and Hatfields — will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

At the Mountainlair, Chick-fil-A, Which Wich and Taziki’s will be open from noon to 9 p.m., and Jazzmans will operate from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Hugh Baby’s and Waldo’s at Evansdale Crossing will be open from noon to 6 p.m.

At The Market @ WVU, Chick-fil-A and Jazzmans at Cavanaugh’s will operate from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Which Wich will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Starbucks at The Market @ UPlace will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the grocery portion of the storefront will operate from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Park Place will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Lyons Den will operate from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.

WVU Dining Services plans to resume normal hours of operation on Friday, Feb. 12.

WVU Transportation
One modified WVU bus route will run on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Several buses will run on a continuous loop between parking lot ST-10 at Falling Run Rd., the Oakland St. crosswalk, Mountaineer Station, and Evansdale Crossing.

Other spring bus routes will not run. All bus routes will resume normal service on Friday.

Mountain Line buses will continue to operate their normal routes on Thursday.

If winter weather affects road conditions and more changes are necessary, these changes will be communicated on social media.

Follow @WVUparking on Twitter and WVU Transportation and Parking on Facebook for updates.

COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination
COVID-19 testing will operate on a normal schedule. However, West Virginia University will postpone the second dose vaccination clinic at the WVU Student Recreation Center that originally was scheduled for Thursday, from 9 a.m. to noon.

This week’s second dose vaccination clinic now will take place on Friday, Feb. 12, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center.
Faculty and staff who already were scheduled for a vaccination appointment on Thursday will receive an email from covidvaccine@mail.wvu.edu with additional instructions and guidance.

Additional Updates
University officials will continue to closely monitor reports from the National Weather Service and will provide additional updates if necessary.

WVU students and employees should call ahead before venturing out to ensure locations and services are open as conditions may change.

Updates will be provided through a variety of outlets, including WVU Alert system, MIX email and Unews, students.wvu.edu, MOUNTAINEER E-News and enews.wvu.edu and social media channels, such as @WestVirginiaU on Twitter or WVUMountaineers on Facebook.

WVU Tech and Potomac State College will make decisions for their respective campuses.

WVU Extension Service will follow its internal inclement weather policy, which can be found at employees.extension.wvu.edu/human-resources/current-employees/inclement-weather.
