Winners Named in ABB Scarecrow Contest

The Associated Businesses of Bridgeport announces the winners of the 2026 Scarecrow Contest.
Winning the Connect-Bridgeport poll was Landmark Realty’s Dolly Parton with 26.5 percent of the votes (754). In second place was Dairy Queen's Grinch with 24.8 percent of the votes (706). Also drawing votes in the hundreds were Venture Real Estate’s Michael Jackson, Steptoe & Johnson’s Dolly Parton, and Della’s Deli Country Roads scarecrow.
A total of 2846 votes were cast in the poll, which went live on Connect-Bridgeport Oct. 12.
“We love that the votes were spread out this year, but still indicated a clear winner,” said Hilary Gonzalez,” ABB treasurer and contest organizer. “The ABB’s purpose for the contest is to get people out to look at and enjoy them, and it looks like the scarecrows definitely did their job this year.”
As for Judges’ Choice, first place goes to Almost Heaven’s vintage ghost (119 points) with Della’s Deli's Country Roads scarecrow claiming the second-place spot (116 points). Venture Real Estate’s Michael Jackson took a very close third place with 115 points. Bridgeport Parks & Recreation’s “Thriller” dancers and Landmark Realty’s Dolly Parton tied for fourth place with 114 points each.
“Our panel of judges visited each scarecrow during Sunday’s Trick-or-Treat event and scored them in various categories, including artistic design, costume detail, quality/craftsmanship, visual impact, originality and kid appeal,” Gonzalez said.
The first-place winners will be awarded a traveling plaque at Light Up Night, scheduled for Thurs., Dec. 3.
The winning scarecrows will remain on display for the next week. All other businesses are asked to remove their scarecrows as soon as possible.
The Associated Businesses of Bridgeport and Connect-Bridgeport thank all participating businesses and everyone who voted. The second annual Trick-or-Treat with the Scarecrows took place Sunday on Main Street with a great community turnout. (See photos HERE.)
